Jay Wade, Ph.D.

Executive Director

Read Bio

Jay is a former child therapist with a doctorate in Research Methodology. He brings over a decade of experience leading participatory evaluations and has deep expertise in building evaluation capacity and shared measurement systems for mission-driven organizations.

He believes that evaluation and data are tools to serve others and that the process of evaluation can be a learning exercise that brings people together.

Outside of PIE, Jay is an avid hiker, reader, and beach-layer.

Dr. Amber Mason brings over 13 years of experience in the field of education, research, measurement and evaluation. Her efforts seek to champion the importance of good research and evaluation practices, ultimately being a change agent for mission-driven organizations. Further, her work seeks to strengthen the effectiveness of data utilization in educational, non-profit, and community-based organizations.

Dr. Mason credits her career beginnings as a high school mathematics instructor as a catalyst to understanding the importance of data equity. A true educator at heart, Dr. Mason strives to use stakeholder collaboration and data to promote learning that leads to equitable change.

Jennifer is a creative problem-solver and measured risk-taker, focused on driving innovative and sustainable organizational improvements.  She has worked as an evaluation and strategy consultant to nonprofit and government agencies since 1999 and has a deep passion for engaging staff and stakeholders to lead organizational change. 

She holds a master’s degree from the University of Chicago and enjoys hiking and travel and has the dirt from more than 30 countries caking her boots.

Carrie spent the first half of her career in the visual and performing arts arts before moving to the nonprofit sector as an internal evaluator, and later into tech, implementing data systems for nonprofits.  With her proficiency in graphic design coupled with technical skills in data management and analytics, PIE is able to offer a variety of data communication strategies for clients that range from annual reports to infographics to dashboards.  Always staying current with new tech solutions and a fan of automating burdensome tasks, our clients can always get a fresh approach to their data challenges.

Ceily began her career as an elementary school math and science teacher. Despite leaving the classroom, her commitment to youth education and outreach remained. Ceily’s intentional approach to data use has helped her in her roles in education and social service organizations. Through this work Ceily became more aware of the challenges that schools and nonprofits face collecting, analyzing, and using data that truly represents their full narrative.

Ceily is passionate about reimagining the ways in which data is collected and reported, shifting focus from increased test scores and attendance to measuring the outcomes that matter most to the organization and demonstrate their full impact.

Anna (she/ella) has traversed the globe and the social impact sector as a high school and university instructor, researcher, immigrant and worker justice advocate, campaigns director, fund developer, racial equity and DEI specialist, and big-picture strategic thinker. She joins PIE with a focus on centering those most directly affected in any changemaking, offering community driven and culturally responsive impact solutions informed by critical analyses and lived experience. Anna is fluent in Spanish, and has ability in Portuguese and Arabic.

Eleanor’s early career was spent in secondary/higher education, where she worked on college campuses and high school college access programs. She first joined PIE Org as a graduate intern, utilizing her experiences in academia and secondary/higher education to assist in serving organizations focused on education. A current doctoral candidate in Research Methodology, she brings to the table a wealth of knowledge and skills in academia, evaluation, and research. Over the years, Eleanor has become PIE Org’s ‘go-to’ person for literature reviews; she also supports design, data collection, analysis, and reporting.

Francisca earned her M.Ed. in Educational Research Methodology at Boston College and is currently a doctoral student at Loyola University Chicago.  As a Senior Research Associate at PIE Org, she applies her research knowledge by conducting data analysis and statistical testing for clients.  Francisca is passionate about international affairs and global peace and enjoys working on mixed-methods research and evaluation in her daily work.

Laura has worked at PIE since its inception, bringing with her the knowledge and background she developed early in her career in corporate finance and credit. She supports PIE’s work and growth behind the scenes by managing day-to-day operations and human resources/management responsibilities.

Laura coordinates the back-end functions of PIE, while aiming for effective communication with staff, clients, and vendors so that our team in the field is seamlessly supported.
